Residency Project

Mono no aware is a Japanese aesthetic and spiritual concept, which can be translated as "empathy towards things" or "sensitivity for the ephemeral". The VR installation project is developed around references from the history of art and Japanese literature (The Fukinuki Yatai, The Tale of Genji, The Pillow Book) and unfolds like a large sensory fresco with great emotional potential. A heterogeneous collection of drawings, animated with sound, scenes are taken from digital material ; they somehow recreate a subjective world (interior and exterior world) in the form of a labyrinth composed of fractal architectures, walls, frames, columns and geometric lattice beams.
