New Music Focus

  • Lyon
From 17 March 2022 to 20 March 2022
From 17 to 20 March, 20 international presenters will be invited to France to experience the fertility and diversity of French musical creation.
This talent scouting trip is initiated by the Institut français, in partnership with Grame – National Center for New Music, Centre National de la Musique, Onda, Sacem, Périscope, and Futurs Composés.

The FOCUS will take place in Lyon, as part of Grame’s B!ME – Biennale des Musiques Exploratoires (Biennale of Exploratory Music), and aims to promote French new music artists (composers, performers, ensembles), to foreign professionals (festivals and concert halls artistic directors, promoters, etc).

Highlights of the festival will include world premieres by emerging and more confirmed artists: Florentin Ginot, Clément Vercelletto, L’Imaginaire, Ensemble Op. Cit. Meetings with French professionals will be organised in partnership with Onda and Futurs Composés, in order to develop new partnerships. Showcases co-organized by Institut français, Centre National de la Musique, Grame, Périscope and Sacem will provide international presenters with the opportunity to discover forthcoming creations.

The goal of the FOCUS is to foster professional exchanges and to create opportunities for new international collaborations. Some of the discussions will take place online, in order to allow as many international professionals as possible to take part in the meetings.
