The Great Classics of French Cinema Restored series

Restored films from the 1920s through the 1990s: a journey through the history of French cinema as well as through genres and eras, paying tribute to the mythical film-makers and great actors of this period.

This series offers a journey through the history of French cinema as well as through genres and eras, paying tribute to the greatest film-makers of this period: Renoir, Becker, Bresson, Carné, Tati, Franju, etc., as well as mythical actors, Arletty, Michel Simon, Simone Signoret, Jean Gabin, Jean-Paul Belmondo,etc.

Bertrand Tavernier has written the introduction text for the programme, allowing viewers to (re)discover the essential works of French cinematographic heritage: works whose singularity and diversity of form, energy, and creative vision, as well as their relevance, poetry, social engagement and humour are often surprising, moving, nourishing and educational for the viewers of tomorrow.
