In an intense crisis that is having a heavy impact on the Lebanese cultural scene, and in the continuity of the emergency aid to Lebanon announced by the French Head of State in September 2020, the Institut français is taking action to support Lebanese artists and creators. Following the launch of the “NAFAS, 100 résidences d’artistes libanais en France” programme, the Institut français invites you to discover the Lebanese artists, directors, cartoonists, choreographers or writers who are benefiting from or who have benefitted from this support.
The Villa Al Qamar is a multidisciplinary artistic residency programme run by the Institut français in Lebanon and supported by the Institut français’ "La Fabrique des résidences" programme. It aims to strengthen cultural exchanges between France and Lebanon.
The Villa is located within the branch of the Institut français in Lebanon which is overseeing the project in Deir El Qamar, within the walls of an old caravanserai and the adjoining old synagogue, in the historic village of Deir El Qamar and the mountainous Chouf region.
In 2021, starting in April, the Villa welcomes the three winning projects which will be invited to develop their creative work in relation to the Lebanese territory of the Chouf and engaging with the current social and political issues.
The distribution of Culturethèque in Switzerland is part of partnerships with the educational authorities of the German- and Italian-speaking cantons in order to support the teaching and learning of the French language.
